Diorama "Life of Jesus" the Portiuncula
From February 12 to April 25, the Shrine of the Portiuncula in St. Mary of the Angels will host the "Mystery of Love and Mercy", the Life of Christ told through 23 dioramas.
The author, Francesco Bonvissuto, has used completely handmade statues, each one different from the other and having its own identity, with Italian artistic expression and craftsmanship. The statues have both realistic facial and bodily expressions and clothed in fabric, depicting the characters in the text quoted in Italian and English. Each diorama is based on a passage of the Gospel. An overview of the exhibit may be seen by clicking here => YouTube.
The visitor can get totally involved in the diorama, since there are no glass separators, giving the viewer immediate visual impact and immersing them in the atmosphere of the period with all its emotions. The visual effects and lighting gives the viewer the feeling of involvement in the presentation.
The work is unique in Italy and in constant evolution with other dioramas under construction.
The exhibit may be visited in the Sala "San Pio X" (“St. Pius X” Hall) of the Portiuncula Sanctuary from February 12 to April 25, 2017, from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 3.00 pm to 6.30 pm.
