International Day for the Tourist Guide of the Basilica of St Francis of Assisi
Saturday, February 18th isInternational Day for Tourist Guide. Sponsored by WFTGA (World Federation Tourist Guides Association) and delegated in Italy to ANGT (Association National Tour Guides) this day will be observed by offering free guided tours of the Basilica of Saint Francis.
The International Day for Tourist Guides is now in its 28th observance and aims to enhance monuments and to make more visible to the public the tourist guide profession. The donations made from the initiative are typically used for the restoration of monuments or for funding humanitarian causes.
This year, however, Italian tourist guides will dedicate the donations collected for the victims of last year’s earthquakes, as well as to help in the restoration of damaged monuments.
In particular, the Authorized Tourist Guides of the Umbria Region AGTU, G.A.I.A., Guide in Umbria and Umbria With Me have decided to allocate the proceeds of any donations received for the restoration of the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Caso, a hamlet of Santa Anatolia di Narco (PG).
The tours will be held at 10.00, 11.00, 12.00, 15.00 and 16.00 hours. Three tours are planned for each hour designated, with groups of no more than 30 people.
Reservations are required and can be made by calling 075-815-228 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
